The hottest couple these days is definitely Prince Harry and former Suits-star Meghan Markle.
After months of speculation, they finally announced their engagement a few days ago.
Breaking a Tradition or Two
Meghan is set to become part of a royal family when the pair ties the knot next May.
The couple will be living together at Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.
Reportedly, Meghan will spend Christmas with the Royal family on the Queen’s estate in Norfolk and not with her family in native California. If she spends Christmas with the Queen, that move with break the traditional protocol that only spouses are invited to join the royal family over the festive period.
Even Kate Middleton wasn’t invited until she married Prince William. But it seems like royal family is not merely following tradition but also making new ones.
Prince Harry is definitely head over heels in love with Megan since he doesn’t mind the fact she is four years older than him nor that she had already been married. They are also showing affection for each other in public, something we rarely see from Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Meghan isn’t a royal but was born and raised in California. Her African-American mother, a psychotherapist, divorced her father, an Emmy-award winning lightning director when she was only six years old.
Meghan worked as a model, a designer and as an actress before she quit her job prior the engagement. The experts explain that the new generation of royals is ready to push the boundaries and to push the monarchy as part of a broader modernizing strategy. Harry and Meghan are writing their own rules and we salute them!
How They Met
The couple met in July 2016 on a blind date set by a mutual friend.
They started dating in October and on May 2017, Meghan made her first public appearance as a “royal girlfriend” when she watched Prince Harry playing polo in Berkshire. This October, Harry invited Meghan for a meal with his grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen.
Meghan apparently earned the affection of the Queen and the couple announced their engagement on November 27 after Meghan had quit her role on the famous TV show Suits.
Prince Harry designed the ring himself using a diamond from Botswana and two stones from Princess Diana’s jewellery collection.
The wedding is expected to take place in May 2018 at St. George’s Chapel inside Windsor Castle, where Harry was christened when he was three years old.
We wish them a lifetime of happiness!
