Alaska Responds to ‘Drag Race’ Backlash Via Video, Snake References Abound

Last week’s (October six) penultimate episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars Season a pair of was not without its honest share of drama. Not only was fan favorite Alyssa Edwards (unjustly!!!) sent packing by the episode’s end, however Alaska Thunderfuck exhibited some pretty petulant behavior onscreen, upsetting viewers who had previously rallied behind the frontrunner.

For the primary time in the competition, Alaska was relegated to Bottom 3 standing with her lackluster makeover, putting her at risk of being sent home despite otherwise dominating the competition.

Sensing the likelihood of being forced out — Alaska was the only real queen to receive major criticism from the judges — she went into full on meltdown mode, going so way as to supply Detox a bribe to eliminate anyone else.

“I’ll give you $10,00zero if you let me stay — before taxes,” she said. “I’ll transfer it to you via PayPal…I need to be in the ultimate four.”
In the end, Detox — who won the lip sync against Katya — sent Alyssa home, saving Alaska and perpetual poor performer Roxxxy Andrews (???).
Fans soon retaliated via social media, littering Alaska’s Instagram comments with snake emojis a la Taylor Swift. And while it appeared the backlash could’ve been Alaska’s sudden undoing, she went the self-aware route instead — posting an inventive “Getting To Know Alaska” video that parodies the responses. (It’s heavy on the snake references.)

“Saving Roxxxy Andrews, sending home fan favorites, borrowing clothes, speaking Parseltongue, shedding my skin each summer, throwing tantrums, offering bribes of ten,00zero dollars…via paypal…before taxes,” Alaska says, as she lists her favorite hobbies.

And in case you were wondering what happened to Alaska’s promise of $ten,000, should Detox keep her within the competition, fear not: The try set to donate $5,00zero each (before taxes) to charity instead.
